i’ve spent more than a decade working in marketing — agency-side, in-house, and now independently. along the way, i’ve worked with businesses big and small across paid media, seo, websites, content, and everything that tends to fall somewhere in between.
what i’ve learned is that good marketing doesn’t need to be complicated, filled with buzzwords, or packaged into something a business doesn’t actually need. i like figuring out what makes sense, getting my hands dirty, and building strategies that work in the real world, without the agency runaround.
when i’m not behind a screen, there’s a good chance i’m helping run our family’s maple syrup business. it’s equal parts tradition, hard work, muddy boots, late nights, and figuring things out as we go.
being on both sides of marketing — helping businesses grow and actually running one myself — keeps me grounded in what small business owners are really dealing with. budgets matter. time matters. and marketing needs to make sense outside of a spreadsheet.
animals have always been a big part of my life, and these days that goes well beyond the ones waiting for me at home. i volunteer with a local horse and animal rescue and now serve on its board of directors, helping support the work behind the scenes as well as getting plenty of hands-on time with the animals.
rescue work has a funny way of putting everything into perspective. it takes patience, adaptability, a willingness to jump in wherever you’re needed, and usually clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. turns out, those qualities come in pretty handy in business too.
marketing, maple syrup, animal rescue — they don’t have much in common on paper. but the way i approach them does. show up. pay attention. figure out what needs to be done. don’t overcomplicate it. and care about the outcome.
that’s pretty much how i work with my clients, too.
